Frequently asked questions

How are lessons delivered? 

Lessons are mostly videos with a few pdfs.
Lessons are available inside your private learning space we call your 'studio'. You can view the lessons anytime—no deadlines, no pressure.

How long does it take to learn? 

It depends on your pace! Some people weave their first kete in the second month and complete all the lessons by the end of the 6th month, while others take their time exploring the lessons.

What if I'm artistic or crafty? 

No problem! You don't need natural. With patience and practice, anyone can weave a beautiful kete.

Do I have to commit long term?

No! You can cancel anytime—but most people stay because they love the process and enjoy being part of the weaving whānau

Who is this for? 

Perfect for beginners (especially those wanting to connect to their cultural heritage), crafters, and anyone with an interest in with Māori weaving traditions who want to learn in a structured, easy-to-follow way.

Do I need to be Māori to join?

 No! Te Rito is open to anyone who wants to learn the art of Māori weaving with respect and care

Is this culturally appropriate for non-Māori 

Absolutely. Our kaupapa (purpose) is about sharing and preserving Māori weaving traditions. As long as you approach weaving with respect and an open heart, you’re welcome.

Will I learn Te Reo Māori 

Yes! You’ll naturally pick up Māori words and terms related to weaving throughout the lessons

What if I get stuck? 

You can ask questions inside your learning space, and our team will guide you through any challenges.
